The guest-greeting stone stands in front of the door of the new outpatient building, with the motto of Xiyuan Hospital, "Being great knowledgeable doctors, and serving people with good moral" engraved in the center.

The term "Great Doctor" comes from the book "Great Doctor with Sincerity" written by Sun Simiao in Tang Dynasty, which refers to a doctor with both virtue and skill.

The word "knowledgeable" is interpreted as "with broad and extensive knowledge" in the book "Explanation of Chinese Characters".

The term "good moral" comes from the Book of Changes, "On the vast earth, a man of noble character shall practice his social commitment with good moral". "Good moral" is the foundation of "technique", and "technique" is the use of "good moral". Only by combining virtue and technology can we benefit the people. The term "serving people" comes from History of King Wu, The Book, "The gods will not feel ashamed only if they had ever helped civilians." It refers to the significance of "helping the people".

The motto "Being great knowledgeable doctors, and serving people with good moral" is engraved on the Stone at the entrance of the outpatient building, which can be seen by the staff and all patients all the time. It is not only a constant spur to our doctors, but also a promise to all our patients.
